Associate Biologist/Botanist

We are seeking an Associate Biologist/Botanist to support a range of ecological, botanical and environmental projects. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with experienced ecologists, botanists and project specialists across a varied portfolio of assignments.

Key responsibilities will include undertaking field surveys and site assessments; assisting with habitat, vegetation and protected species surveys; identifying plants and recording field data accurately; preparing survey notes, photographs, maps and technical reports; supporting ecological impact assessments and management recommendations; and contributing to desktop research, data analysis and environmental documentation. You may also assist with survey planning, equipment preparation, species or habitat monitoring, GIS mapping and the coordination of project information. The role may involve travel to field sites, outdoor work in varying conditions and occasional overnight stays or flexible working hours during survey periods.

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in biology, botany, ecology, environmental science or a related discipline, together with a genuine interest in plant science and the natural environment. Practical experience of botanical, habitat or ecological survey work is desirable, as is familiarity with relevant identification guides, survey methodologies, legislation and guidance. Knowledge of GIS, ecological databases or standard office software would be advantageous. You will need strong observational and organisational skills, attention to detail, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team. A full driving licence and willingness to travel to project locations may be required. Training and professional development will be supported for the right candidate.
