We are seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex water resources projects across flood risk management, drainage, hydrology, and hydraulic modelling. The successful candidate will provide technical direction from initial feasibility through detailed design, construction, and project completion. Responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing hydrological and hydraulic assessments, flood risk evaluations, drainage strategies, water management plans, and engineering reports. You will also oversee the development of technical drawings, specifications, calculations, and tender documentation while ensuring that all work meets relevant legislation, industry standards, and client requirements.

In this role, you will manage project tasks, budgets, programmes, and technical deliverables, working closely with clients, contractors, regulators, local authorities, and multidisciplinary design teams. You will be expected to identify project risks, develop practical and sustainable solutions, support planning and consenting processes, and provide technical input during construction and site investigations. The position will also involve reviewing work produced by junior engineers, mentoring team members, contributing to business development activities, and helping to maintain strong professional relationships with stakeholders. Experience with industry-standard modelling and design software, such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, or equivalent platforms, would be advantageous.

Applicants should hold a degree in civil engineering, water resources engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline, together with substantial professional experience in water and flood risk projects. Professional registration or progress toward chartered status is desirable. You will need strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality technical work. A proactive approach, sound engineering judgement, and the confidence to lead projects and collaborate across disciplines are essential. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to technically challenging, sustainable projects while supporting the development of innovative solutions for resilient communities and environments.
