We are seeking a Senior Project Manager – Transportation Engineering & Planning to lead the delivery of complex transportation projects from inception through to completion. This role will involve managing multidisciplinary teams, coordinating technical studies and design activities, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with agreed scope, budget, programme, and quality standards. You will work closely with clients, stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and public agencies to develop practical and sustainable transportation solutions.
Key responsibilities will include preparing project strategies, scopes, schedules, budgets, and risk registers; overseeing transportation planning, traffic engineering, corridor studies, feasibility assessments, transport modelling, and infrastructure design; and reviewing technical reports, drawings, specifications, and tender documentation. You will lead project meetings, monitor progress and performance, manage changes and commercial matters, and provide clear status updates to senior stakeholders. The role will also involve supporting business development, preparing proposals, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the ongoing improvement of project delivery systems and technical practices.
Applicants should hold a degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, urban planning, or a related discipline, together with substantial experience delivering transportation infrastructure or planning projects. Professional registration or membership of a relevant industry body is desirable. You will bring strong knowledge of transportation principles, applicable standards, approval processes, and project management methodologies, along with experience managing budgets, programmes, risks, and multidisciplinary teams. Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are essential. The successful candidate will be commercially aware, highly organised, confident working independently, and committed to delivering technically robust outcomes that improve mobility, safety, accessibility, and community connectivity.
