Senior Water Resources Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex water resources projects. This role will suit an experienced professional with strong technical expertise, sound commercial awareness, and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams. You will contribute to projects involving flood risk management, stormwater drainage, hydrology and hydraulic modelling, water infrastructure, catchment planning, and climate resilience.

Your responsibilities will include managing technical studies and design packages from concept through to delivery; preparing hydrological and hydraulic assessments; developing and reviewing flood studies, drainage strategies, and water management plans; and producing clear, accurate technical reports, drawings, specifications, and presentations. You will oversee project programmes, budgets, quality, and risk, while coordinating with clients, contractors, regulators, local authorities, and other technical specialists. The role will also involve mentoring junior engineers, reviewing technical work, supporting business development, and identifying practical, sustainable solutions for complex water-related challenges.

Applicants should hold a degree in civil engineering, water resources engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related discipline, together with substantial experience in water resources or civil infrastructure projects. Professional registration or eligibility for registration is desirable. You will have demonstrated proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling tools, such as TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, URBS, XP-RAFTS, or equivalent platforms, as well as strong knowledge of relevant standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities, provide sound technical advice, and build effective relationships. A proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and commitment to safety, sustainability, and high-quality project outcomes are expected.
