Water Resources Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of water-related infrastructure and environmental projects. The successful candidate will manage projects from inception through completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required technical and regulatory standards. Projects may include flood risk management, drainage and stormwater systems, water supply, river restoration, catchment planning, and climate resilience initiatives.
Key responsibilities will include developing project scopes, programmes, budgets, risk registers, and procurement strategies; coordinating multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders; and overseeing technical investigations, feasibility studies, detailed designs, construction activities, and project closeout. You will monitor progress, manage change control, review technical documentation, and prepare clear reports for senior stakeholders and clients. The role will also involve supporting business development through the preparation of proposals, fee estimates, technical submissions, and client presentations. A strong focus on health and safety, environmental protection, quality assurance, and effective stakeholder engagement will be essential.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in water resources engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline, together with significant experience managing water, drainage, flood risk, or environmental infrastructure projects. Professional registration or progress toward an appropriate professional qualification is desirable. You will need strong knowledge of relevant legislation, permitting requirements, design standards, and project management principles, along with experience managing budgets, schedules, risks, and supply chains. Excellent communication, negotiation, organisation, and leadership skills are essential, as is the ability to translate complex technical information into practical recommendations. Experience with project management software, hydraulic or hydrological modelling tools, and common design or data management systems would be advantageous. A proactive, collaborative approach and commitment to delivering sustainable, resilient outcomes are expected.
