We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead heavy civil and Department of Transportation (DOT) construction projects from preconstruction through final completion. This role will be responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and client expectations while coordinating internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and public agencies. Projects may include roadway construction, bridges, highways, utilities, grading, drainage, concrete, paving, and other transportation infrastructure improvements.
Key responsibilities include reviewing contract documents, plans, specifications, and estimates; developing and maintaining project schedules and cost forecasts; managing change orders, submittals, RFIs, pay applications, and closeout documentation; and monitoring production against established milestones. The Project Manager will lead progress meetings, communicate regularly with project stakeholders, identify and resolve field issues, and ensure work complies with contractual requirements, applicable DOT standards, environmental regulations, and company safety policies. This position will also support estimating and project pursuit activities, build strong relationships with owners and subcontractors, and provide leadership to project engineers, superintendents, and administrative staff.
Qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, engineering technology, or a related field, along with substantial experience managing heavy civil or DOT projects. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. A strong understanding of construction means and methods, contract administration, scheduling software, cost control, and project documentation is required. Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, HCSS, or similar construction management platforms is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced field environment. The role requires regular travel to active jobsites, the ability to review plans and reports, and occasional extended hours based on project demands. A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass applicable background, safety, and site-access requirements are also required.

We are seeking an experienced Traveling Project Manager to lead heavy civil and Department of Transportation (DOT) construction projects across multiple locations. This role is responsible for overseeing projects from preconstruction through completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements. Extensive travel to active project sites is required, with assignments potentially spanning multiple states and varying project durations.
Key responsibilities include managing project schedules, budgets, cost controls, change orders, subcontracts, procurement, and document control. You will coordinate closely with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and field leadership to resolve issues and maintain project progress. The Project Manager will review plans and specifications, track production and financial performance, prepare estimates and forecasts, support bidding and preconstruction activities, and ensure accurate project reporting. Additional duties include leading progress meetings, managing claims and risk, monitoring quality requirements, and maintaining compliance with applicable DOT standards, permits, safety regulations, and contractual obligations.
Candidates should have substantial project management experience in heavy civil construction, preferably involving highways, bridges, roads, utilities, earthwork, asphalt, concrete, or other transportation infrastructure. A bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, along with strong knowledge of construction means and methods, project controls, scheduling software, and cost management systems. Experience working with DOT contracts, public-sector clients, and self-perform crews is highly valued. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator and decisive problem solver who can manage competing priorities, build strong working relationships, and lead teams in a fast-paced field environment. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively are required.
