We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of transportation and infrastructure projects from preconstruction through completion. This role will assist with coordinating project activities, maintaining schedules and budgets, monitoring progress, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and public stakeholders to help maintain clear communication and timely decision-making.
Key responsibilities include reviewing plans, specifications, permits, and contract documents; assisting with project schedules, cost tracking, forecasting, and change management; preparing progress reports, meeting minutes, correspondence, and other project documentation; and supporting the review of submittals, requests for information, pay applications, and potential claims. You will help coordinate field activities, monitor quality control and safety compliance, identify project risks, and follow up on outstanding issues. The role may also involve attending site meetings, supporting inspections, documenting daily progress, and helping ensure construction activities comply with applicable transportation standards, regulations, and approved plans.
Candidates should have a degree in construction management, civil engineering, project management, or a related discipline, together with relevant experience supporting roadway, bridge, site development, or other civil construction projects. Familiarity with public-sector transportation contracts, scheduling software, estimating, project documentation, and construction management procedures is highly desirable. Strong organisational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective working relationships. A proactive approach, attention to detail, sound judgement, and a commitment to safety and quality are required. The position may require regular travel to project sites and the ability to work in varying outdoor conditions.
