Senior Water Resources Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex water resources projects. This role will support clients and project teams across areas such as flood risk management, stormwater planning, drainage infrastructure, catchment assessment, water quality, and hydraulic modelling. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership from project inception through to completion, ensuring that solutions are practical, sustainable, compliant, and aligned with project objectives.

Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic models, flood studies, water management plans, drainage strategies, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. You will manage technical workstreams, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to project scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and quality assurance. The role will also involve engaging with clients, contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders, presenting technical findings clearly, and supporting business development through proposals, fee estimates, and client relationship management.

Applicants should hold a degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, water resources engineering, or a related discipline, together with substantial professional experience in water resources or hydraulic engineering. Strong knowledge of relevant standards, guidelines, legislation, and industry practices is essential, as is hands-on experience with industry modelling and design software. Professional registration or chartered status will be highly regarded. You will be an analytical and collaborative professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities. Experience leading projects and developing less experienced team members is desirable.
