Senior Hydrogeologist / Senior Water Resources Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist / Senior Water Resources Engineer to lead the delivery of complex water resources, groundwater and environmental projects. This is an opportunity to provide technical direction across investigations, assessments, modelling, permitting and infrastructure planning, while working closely with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, regulators and stakeholders. The successful candidate will contribute to projects involving groundwater supply, aquifer assessment, dewatering, water balance studies, contaminated land, surface water interactions, climate resilience and sustainable resource management.
Key responsibilities will include planning and managing hydrogeological and water resources investigations; designing field programmes, including drilling, monitoring, pumping tests and sampling; interpreting hydrogeological, hydrological and geochemical data; developing and reviewing conceptual site models and numerical groundwater models; preparing technical reports, assessments and regulatory submissions; and providing expert advice on water availability, abstraction, environmental impacts and mitigation measures. You will also oversee budgets, schedules, subcontractors and deliverables, support proposals and business development, and mentor junior staff. The role may involve site visits and fieldwork in varied conditions, together with opportunities to present findings to clients, authorities and other stakeholders.
Applicants should hold a degree in hydrogeology, geology, water resources engineering, environmental science, civil engineering or a related discipline, with substantial professional experience in hydrogeology or water resources consulting. Demonstrable expertise in groundwater assessment, field investigation techniques, data analysis and relevant modelling software is essential. Experience with regulatory frameworks, water licensing, environmental impact assessment and project management would be highly advantageous. You will be expected to communicate clearly, produce high-quality technical work, exercise sound professional judgement and work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Professional accreditation or chartered status, where applicable, is desirable, as is a current driving licence and willingness to travel for project requirements.
