Water Resources Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of a diverse portfolio of water, wastewater, drainage, flood risk, and environmental improvement projects. This role will involve managing projects from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design, approvals, construction, commissioning, and close-out. You will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, regulators, and internal technical teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high professional standard.

Key responsibilities will include defining project scopes, programmes, budgets, and resource requirements; coordinating multidisciplinary project teams; monitoring progress, costs, risks, quality, and contractual obligations; and preparing clear reports for senior stakeholders and clients. You will identify and manage technical, commercial, environmental, and delivery risks, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, health and safety requirements, and environmental regulations. The role may also involve supervising surveys and investigations, reviewing technical reports and designs, supporting procurement and tender evaluations, managing contractors, and contributing to business development through proposals, client presentations, and relationship management.

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, environmental engineering, water management, hydrology, or a related discipline, together with substantial experience delivering water resources or infrastructure projects. Professional registration or progress towards chartered status is desirable. You will need strong project management, commercial awareness, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to interpret technical information and make sound, evidence-based decisions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with confidence working collaboratively across disciplines and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience with project management software, design standards, risk management tools, and relevant modelling or technical platforms would be advantageous. A proactive, organised, and adaptable approach is expected, with a commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes and continuous improvement.
