Water Resources - Senior Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Senior Project Manager to lead the planning, delivery and technical oversight of complex water, flood risk and drainage projects. This role will manage projects from initial feasibility and business case development through design, approvals, construction support and completion. You will work closely with clients, regulators, contractors, consultants and internal technical teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, sustainably, on time and within budget.

Responsibilities will include developing scopes, programmes, budgets and risk registers; coordinating multidisciplinary teams; reviewing technical reports, hydraulic models, drainage strategies and flood risk assessments; and ensuring that designs meet relevant legislation, standards and environmental requirements. You will oversee procurement and contract administration, monitor progress and financial performance, lead project meetings, manage change and resolve technical or commercial issues. The role will also involve supporting business development through client engagement, proposal preparation, fee estimation and the identification of new opportunities. You may be required to mentor junior staff and contribute to the continuous improvement of project delivery processes.

Applicants should have significant experience managing water resources, flood risk, drainage, infrastructure or environmental projects, ideally within a consultancy, engineering, construction or public-sector environment. A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience is required, together with strong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, drainage design, flood risk management and applicable regulatory frameworks. Professional accreditation or progress towards chartered status would be advantageous. You will be an organised and commercially aware project leader with excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills. The ability to manage competing priorities, make sound technical judgements and build effective relationships at all levels is essential. Experience with project management systems, hydraulic modelling software and standard industry tools would be beneficial.
