Project Manager/Project Engineer - Water Resources

We are seeking a Project Manager/Project Engineer – Water Resources to lead and deliver a varied portfolio of water, flood risk and environmental infrastructure projects. This role will suit an experienced water resources professional who can combine strong technical knowledge with effective project coordination, client communication and commercial awareness. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, sustainable solutions for public and private sector clients, supporting projects from early feasibility and assessment through to detailed design, consenting and delivery.

Responsibilities will include managing project scope, programmes, budgets, risks and resources; preparing technical reports, specifications, calculations and business cases; undertaking or overseeing hydrological and hydraulic assessments, flood risk studies, drainage strategies and water management plans; and reviewing data, drawings and technical outputs for quality and compliance. You will liaise with clients, regulators, contractors, landowners and other stakeholders, attend site visits and meetings, contribute to tenders and fee proposals, and provide technical guidance to less experienced colleagues. The role may also involve supporting construction-phase activities, monitoring progress and ensuring that projects meet relevant environmental, health and safety and regulatory requirements.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water resources, hydrology, environmental engineering or a related discipline, with demonstrable experience delivering water resources or flood risk projects. Experience with hydraulic and hydrological modelling software, drainage design, flood mapping, climate resilience or environmental permitting would be advantageous. You will need strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organisation and problem-solving abilities, and the confidence to manage competing priorities. Professional registration, or a clear commitment to achieving it, is desirable. Above all, you should be collaborative, commercially aware and motivated to deliver high-quality outcomes that improve the resilience and sustainability of the water environment.
