Water Resources Engineering Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Engineering Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex water resources projects. This role will support clients and stakeholders across projects involving flood risk management, stormwater drainage, river and coastal engineering, water infrastructure, hydrology, and hydraulic modelling. You will be responsible for managing projects from initial scope development through to technical delivery, approvals, construction support, and completion, while ensuring that outcomes are safe, sustainable, commercially sound, and compliant with relevant standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities include preparing project scopes, programmes, budgets, and risk registers; coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and specialist consultants; reviewing technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, and modelling outputs; and providing clear technical advice to clients, regulators, contractors, and community stakeholders. You will oversee project reporting, procurement, contract administration, quality assurance, health and safety, and environmental performance. The role will also involve identifying opportunities, contributing to bids and proposals, developing client relationships, mentoring less experienced engineers, and helping improve internal systems and technical practices.

Applicants should hold a degree in civil engineering, water resources engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline, together with substantial experience delivering water, flood, drainage, or related infrastructure projects. Professional registration or chartered status is desirable, as is demonstrated expertise in hydrological and hydraulic assessment, flood studies, drainage design, asset management, or climate resilience. Strong project management, commercial, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential. Experience with relevant modelling, design, and project management software will be advantageous. The successful candidate will be organised, collaborative, solutions-focused, and confident managing competing priorities while maintaining high technical and professional standards.
