You will lead the design, development, integration and validation of electrical power supply equipment, ensuring that solutions meet performance, safety, reliability, maintainability and applicable rail industry standards. The role will involve working across the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements definition and architecture through to testing, commissioning and operational support.
Your responsibilities will include developing and reviewing electrical schematics, system specifications, interface control documents, calculations and technical reports. You will coordinate engineering activities across power supply, traction, control, mechanical, software and vehicle integration teams, while managing technical interfaces with suppliers and project stakeholders. You will provide technical leadership during design reviews, risk assessments, failure analysis and requirements management activities, identifying issues early and driving effective solutions. You will also support the preparation of test strategies and procedures, investigate defects, assess design changes and provide engineering guidance during factory, static and dynamic testing.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in railway electrical engineering, with a strong background in train power supply, traction power, auxiliary converters, high-voltage systems or related rolling stock applications. A degree or equivalent qualification in electrical or electronic engineering is expected, together with a sound understanding of railway standards, electrical safety, EMC, earthing, protection systems and system integration. Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing suppliers is highly desirable. You should be confident interpreting technical requirements, making informed engineering decisions and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a proactive approach to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
