RAMS Lead
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced RAMS Lead to support the successful delivery of complex engineering and infrastructure projects. You will provide specialist guidance across reliability, availability, maintainability and safety activities, ensuring that requirements are clearly defined, appropriately managed and demonstrably achieved throughout the project lifecycle.
Working closely with engineering, project management, assurance and operations teams, you will develop and maintain robust RAMS strategies and plans. You will lead the preparation of technical evidence, facilitate risk-based decision-making and ensure that safety and performance considerations are embedded from concept through to delivery, testing and handover.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain project RAMS strategies, plans and assurance documentation.
- Translate customer, operational and regulatory requirements into measurable RAMS objectives.
- Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, failure analysis and safety justification activities.
- Coordinate reliability, availability and maintainability modelling, calculations and performance assessments.
- Review technical submissions, designs, specifications and verification evidence to ensure compliance.
- Monitor RAMS risks, assumptions, actions and dependencies, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Prepare clear technical reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support testing, commissioning, acceptance and handover activities, ensuring evidence is complete and traceable.
- Promote a strong safety, quality and continuous improvement culture across multidisciplinary teams.
About you
You will have substantial experience in a RAMS, systems assurance, safety engineering or similarly technical role, ideally within a regulated engineering, transport, defence, energy or infrastructure environment. You should be confident applying recognised RAMS methodologies, risk management techniques and relevant industry standards.
Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills are essential, together with the ability to influence stakeholders and explain complex technical matters clearly. A relevant engineering or scientific qualification is desirable, and professional registration or membership of an appropriate institution would be advantageous.
This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the safe, reliable and successful delivery of major projects while working within a collaborative and technically focused environment.
