We are seeking an experienced Stops & TPSS Design Lead to oversee the design development and technical coordination of station environments and traction power supply substation (TPSS) systems across complex rail or transit projects. This is a key role for a design professional who can combine strong technical expertise with effective leadership, stakeholder management and a practical understanding of delivering safe, accessible and maintainable infrastructure.
You will lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design activities from concept through detailed design, construction support and completion. Responsibilities will include developing design strategies, scopes, specifications and deliverables for stops, stations, platforms, passenger facilities and associated TPSS assets; managing interfaces between civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, systems, signalling and operational disciplines; and ensuring designs comply with relevant legislation, standards, assurance requirements and project objectives. You will review technical documentation, drawings, calculations and design changes, identify risks and constructability issues, and provide clear technical advice to project teams, contractors and other stakeholders. The role will also involve supporting design reviews, approvals, safety assessments, cost and programme management, site queries and the resolution of issues through construction and commissioning.
Applicants should have substantial experience in rail, light rail, metro or comparable transport infrastructure design, with a strong understanding of station or stop design and traction power systems. A relevant engineering, architectural or built-environment qualification is preferred, together with demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing interfaces on major projects. You will be confident working with clients, delivery partners and technical authorities, able to communicate complex information clearly and capable of making sound, evidence-based decisions. Strong knowledge of design assurance, health and safety, accessibility, sustainability and risk management is essential. The ability to work collaboratively, prioritise competing demands and maintain high standards of quality in a regulated environment will be critical to success.
