Power Supply Engineer – Senior – High Speed Train
We are seeking a Senior Power Supply Engineer to support the design, development, integration and validation of electrical power supply systems for high-speed train platforms. You will be responsible for delivering robust, safe and reliable solutions across the full engineering lifecycle, from concept and requirements definition through to detailed design, testing, commissioning and in-service support. The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams covering vehicle systems, traction, controls, software, mechanical engineering, safety and industrialisation.
Your duties will include defining and managing power supply requirements; developing system architectures and electrical schematics; specifying and reviewing equipment such as converters, transformers, batteries, auxiliary power supplies, protection devices and high-voltage distribution systems; and ensuring compliance with applicable railway standards, customer requirements and engineering processes. You will produce and approve technical documentation, calculations, interface specifications, test procedures and engineering reports. You will also investigate technical issues, lead root-cause analysis, support design reviews, assess technical risks and provide guidance to less experienced engineers. Regular collaboration with suppliers and project stakeholders will be required to monitor delivery, resolve non-conformities and maintain programme commitments.
Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in electrical or electronic engineering, together with substantial experience in railway power systems, rolling stock or a comparable high-voltage industrial environment. A strong understanding of traction and auxiliary power architectures, electrical protection, power electronics, earthing, electromagnetic compatibility and verification methods is essential. Experience with railway standards, safety-critical engineering, requirements management and engineering change control would be highly advantageous. You should be confident interpreting technical specifications and schematics, using engineering analysis tools, and communicating complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgement, structured problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities while working effectively in a collaborative, international project environment.
