Mechanical Integration Mechanical Lead Engineer (MIT MLE)
We are seeking a Mechanical Integration Mechanical Lead Engineer to provide technical leadership across the design, integration, verification and delivery of complex mechanical systems. The successful candidate will lead the development of integrated mechanical solutions, ensuring that structures, mechanisms, equipment, interfaces and supporting systems work together safely, reliably and in accordance with project requirements. You will take ownership of mechanical integration activities throughout the engineering lifecycle, from concept and requirements definition through detailed design, testing, qualification and delivery.
Key responsibilities will include defining mechanical integration strategies, managing interface requirements and coordinating multidisciplinary design activities across engineering, manufacturing, test and operations teams. You will review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, analyses and technical documentation; identify and resolve design or interface risks; and support configuration control, change management and technical investigations. The role will also involve planning and overseeing integration and verification activities, including fit checks, assembly reviews, environmental testing and acceptance evaluations. You will provide clear technical direction to engineers and suppliers, contribute to design reviews, and ensure that engineering outputs meet applicable standards, quality expectations, schedule commitments and customer requirements.
Applicants should have substantial experience in mechanical engineering, mechanical integration or a closely related discipline, ideally within a complex product, systems engineering or technology-led environment. A degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering is required, together with demonstrable experience leading technical work packages or multidisciplinary engineering teams. You should be confident interpreting requirements, managing interfaces, assessing engineering risk and making evidence-based technical decisions. Experience with 3D CAD, product lifecycle management systems, engineering analysis, tolerance management, manufacturing processes and verification planning is highly desirable. Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder-management skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively while maintaining ownership of challenging technical problems. A proactive approach to continuous improvement, attention to detail and a commitment to engineering quality and safety are also expected.
