RAMS Engineer
We are seeking an experienced RAMS Engineer to support the delivery of safe, reliable and maintainable systems across complex engineering projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety principles throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and design through to testing, commissioning and operational support. This role will involve working closely with engineering, project management, quality, systems assurance and operations teams to ensure that RAMS requirements are clearly defined, evidenced and achieved.
Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining RAMS plans, requirements, analyses, calculations and assurance cases; preparing and reviewing hazard logs, risk assessments, FMEAs, FTA, FMECAs, reliability predictions and maintainability assessments; and supporting the identification, assessment and mitigation of technical and operational risks. You will contribute to safety and assurance reviews, verify compliance with applicable legislation, standards and client requirements, and ensure that suitable evidence is captured within project documentation. The role will also involve reviewing supplier submissions, monitoring RAMS performance, supporting incident and failure investigations, and producing clear technical reports for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Applicants should have proven experience in a RAMS, systems assurance, safety engineering or reliability engineering role, ideally within a highly regulated or safety-critical environment. A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, science or a related discipline is preferred, together with practical knowledge of recognised RAMS and functional safety standards. Experience using structured risk and reliability analysis techniques, managing technical documentation and presenting findings to stakeholders is essential. You will need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage competing priorities while working collaboratively. The successful candidate will be detail-focused, proactive and confident in challenging assumptions to improve system performance and safety.
