We are seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent Civil to lead the delivery of major civil construction activities from mobilisation through to completion. This role is responsible for coordinating site operations, maintaining high standards of safety and quality, and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications, programmes, budgets and contractual requirements. You will provide visible leadership across the project site, supervise construction teams and subcontractors, and build effective working relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating daily construction activities; monitoring progress against project schedules and milestones; allocating labour, plant, materials and specialist resources; and identifying and resolving technical, logistical and constructability issues. You will review drawings, scopes, methodologies and inspection requirements, support the development of work plans and look-ahead programmes, and ensure quality assurance and environmental controls are consistently applied. The role will also involve conducting pre-starts, toolbox meetings and site inspections, maintaining accurate records, contributing to progress reporting, managing subcontractor performance, and supporting the implementation of corrective actions. A strong focus on hazard identification, risk management and compliance with applicable legislation, permits and project procedures is essential.
Applicants should possess significant experience delivering civil infrastructure, earthworks, structures, roads, utilities or similarly complex construction projects, with a proven background in a senior site-based leadership position. Relevant trade, technical or tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, construction management or a related discipline will be highly regarded. You will demonstrate sound knowledge of construction methods, project controls, safety systems and quality processes, together with the ability to interpret technical documentation and make practical decisions under pressure. Strong communication, leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills are required, along with a collaborative approach and a commitment to achieving safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes. The position may require flexible hours, travel or extended periods on site depending on project requirements.
