We are seeking a RAM Engineer to support the development, assessment and continuous improvement of the reliability, availability and maintainability performance of complex engineering systems. The role will involve working across the full asset lifecycle, from concept and design through to testing, commissioning, operation and in-service support. You will apply robust engineering methods to identify performance risks, improve system resilience and ensure that maintainability requirements are practical, measurable and aligned with customer and project objectives.

Key responsibilities will include producing and reviewing RAM plans, analyses, predictions, models and supporting documentation; defining reliability, availability and maintainability requirements; and carrying out failure mode, effects and criticality analyses, fault tree analysis, reliability block modelling and quantitative availability assessments. You will analyse operational and test data, investigate trends and recurring failures, develop improvement recommendations, and support root-cause investigations. The role will also involve contributing to design reviews, verification and validation activities, acceptance testing, maintenance strategies, spares assessments, obsolescence planning and lifecycle cost evaluations.

The successful candidate will have experience in a RAM, reliability, systems or engineering assurance role, ideally within a safety-critical, transport, defence, energy, manufacturing or similarly regulated environment. A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, science or a related technical discipline is preferred, together with practical knowledge of RAM standards, reliability engineering techniques and systems engineering principles. Familiarity with analytical tools, statistical methods and RAM modelling software would be advantageous. You will need strong written and verbal communication skills, a methodical approach to problem-solving and the ability to explain technical findings to both engineering specialists and non-technical stakeholders. The role requires effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, sound judgement and a proactive approach to identifying and managing engineering risks.
