CEQA Assistant Project Manager
We are seeking a CEQA Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of environmental planning and compliance projects across a range of public and private sector developments. This role is suited to an organised environmental professional who can coordinate multiple workstreams, communicate confidently with clients and consultants, and contribute to high-quality documentation in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
Responsibilities will include assisting with the preparation, review, and processing of CEQA documents, including Initial Studies, Negative Declarations, Mitigated Negative Declarations, Environmental Impact Reports, technical studies, and related supporting materials. You will help manage project schedules, budgets, scopes, and deliverables; coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams; track agency comments and approvals; and support public noticing, meetings, hearings, and stakeholder engagement. The role will also involve conducting research, reviewing plans and technical reports, identifying potential environmental impacts and mitigation measures, maintaining project records, and preparing clear written correspondence, presentations, and status updates. You may also assist with proposal development, client coordination, and mentoring junior staff.
Candidates should have a degree in environmental planning, urban planning, natural resources, environmental science, or a related discipline, together with relevant experience supporting CEQA or environmental review projects. A working knowledge of CEQA statutes, guidelines, procedures, and documentation is essential, along with strong writing, editing, research, and analytical skills. Experience coordinating consultants, managing project information, and working with local agencies or other public bodies is highly desirable. You will be expected to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, demonstrate sound judgement, and work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management, document control, or geographic information systems software would be advantageous. A valid driving licence and the ability to attend occasional site visits, meetings, and public hearings may be required.
