Water Resources Engineer II
We are seeking a Water Resources Engineer II to support the planning, design and delivery of water resources projects across a range of civil engineering and environmental programmes. This role will involve applying sound technical judgement to investigate water-related challenges, develop practical solutions and contribute to projects from feasibility through to construction and operation. You will work collaboratively with engineers, scientists, planners, contractors and stakeholders to ensure that work is technically robust, environmentally responsible and delivered to agreed standards.
Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing hydrological and hydraulic assessments, water balances, drainage strategies, flood risk assessments, stormwater management plans and related technical reports. You will develop design calculations, models, drawings, specifications and cost estimates, and support the interpretation of field data, survey information and monitoring results. The role will also involve assisting with regulatory submissions, permits and approvals; contributing to project programmes and budgets; reviewing technical deliverables; and providing technical input during construction, commissioning and post-project evaluation. You may also be required to supervise junior staff, coordinate specialist inputs and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Applicants should hold a degree in water resources engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering or a closely related discipline, together with relevant professional experience in hydrology, hydraulics, drainage, flood risk or water management. You should be confident using industry-standard modelling, design and data analysis tools, and be able to interpret technical guidance, legislation and engineering standards. Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound analytical ability and a methodical approach to problem-solving are essential. Experience of project coordination, stakeholder engagement, site investigations or construction support would be advantageous. A commitment to health and safety, environmental protection, quality assurance and continuing professional development is expected.
