Water Resources Engineer II - Moving I-4 Forward
We are seeking a Water Resources Engineer II – Moving I-4 Forward to support the planning, design, permitting, and delivery of transportation-related water resources projects. This role is suited to an experienced civil or water resources professional who can work independently on complex assignments while collaborating effectively with engineers, environmental specialists, surveyors, construction teams, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
Responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing stormwater management plans, drainage studies, hydraulic and hydrologic models, drainage reports, technical specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents. You will evaluate roadway and site drainage systems, develop practical solutions for flood control and water quality, and support the design of culverts, stormwater conveyance systems, ponds, swales, outfalls, and related infrastructure. The position will also involve coordinating permitting activities, responding to technical comments, reviewing plans and submittals, conducting field investigations, and providing technical support during construction. You may also assist with schedules, scopes, budgets, quality control, and mentoring less experienced staff.
Qualified candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, water resources engineering, or a related discipline, along with several years of relevant professional experience. Professional Engineer licensure, or the ability to obtain it within an agreed timeframe, is preferred. Strong knowledge of stormwater regulations, drainage design standards, hydrologic and hydraulic principles, and transportation infrastructure is expected. Experience with tools such as Civil 3D, MicroStation, GIS, HEC-RAS, ICPR, SWMM, or comparable modeling and design software will be valued. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, clear written and verbal communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting technical, regulatory, and project deadlines.
