Project Manager – Rail & Transit Projects

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of rail and transit infrastructure projects from concept through to completion. This role will involve coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing contractors and consultants, and ensuring that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. Projects may include rail, light rail, metro, stations, track, signalling, systems, rolling stock interfaces, or associated civil and electrical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining project plans, budgets, schedules, risk registers, procurement strategies, and reporting frameworks. You will manage project scope, change control, design development, construction activities, testing, commissioning, and handover, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, technical standards, quality requirements, and safety procedures. The successful candidate will build strong relationships with clients, delivery partners, regulatory bodies, utility providers, and internal stakeholders. You will also chair progress meetings, monitor performance, resolve issues, and provide clear updates to senior leadership.

Applicants should have proven experience managing major rail, transit, transport, or complex infrastructure projects, ideally within a project delivery, construction, engineering, or consultancy environment. A relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, construction, project management, or a related discipline is desirable. Strong knowledge of project controls, contract administration, risk management, health and safety, and stakeholder engagement is essential. Experience with NEC, FIDIC, or similar contract forms would be advantageous, as would familiarity with rail assurance, systems integration, and operational requirements. You will be an organised and commercially aware professional with excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, capable of managing competing priorities and leading teams through complex delivery challenges.
