Senior Manager, Project Controls Planning (Life Science), Project & Development Services
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Project Controls Planning to support the successful delivery of complex life science projects across the full project lifecycle. This role will lead planning and scheduling activities for major capital programmes, ensuring that project timelines, milestones, dependencies and delivery strategies are clearly defined, maintained and communicated. You will work closely with project directors, clients, design teams, contractors, cost managers and other stakeholders to provide reliable programme insight and support informed decision-making.
Key responsibilities will include developing and managing integrated master schedules; establishing planning standards, processes and reporting frameworks; reviewing contractor and consultant programmes; analysing progress, critical paths, float, trends and schedule risks; and providing mitigation recommendations where performance deviates from plan. You will lead regular planning workshops, challenge assumptions, assess the impact of change, and ensure that schedule updates accurately reflect project status. The role will also involve producing clear executive-level reports, dashboards and progress presentations, supporting governance meetings, and contributing to risk, change control, procurement and commercial reviews. You may also provide guidance and mentoring to project controls professionals and help improve planning capability across the wider team.
Applicants should have substantial experience in project planning or project controls within construction, engineering, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, advanced technology or another highly regulated environment. Experience delivering complex facilities, laboratories, manufacturing plants or major infrastructure projects is highly desirable. You will need advanced knowledge of scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, together with a strong understanding of project controls principles, schedule quality, earned value concepts, progress measurement and risk management. Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills are essential, as is the ability to present complex information clearly to senior audiences. A relevant degree or professional qualification in project management, engineering, construction or a related discipline is preferred. The successful candidate will be organised, commercially aware, collaborative and confident working in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
