We are seeking an Associate or Senior Wildlife Biologist/Regulatory Specialist to support environmental planning, permitting, and compliance projects in the Folsom area. This role will contribute to projects involving wildlife resources, habitat conservation, biological constraints, and regulatory approvals across a range of public and private-sector developments. The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with practical project coordination skills and will be comfortable working in the field, in the office, and with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities may include conducting and overseeing biological surveys; documenting wildlife, plant, and sensitive habitat conditions; preparing technical reports, biological assessments, constraints analyses, and permit applications; and supporting compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. You will assist with agency coordination, regulatory strategy, mitigation planning, construction monitoring, and implementation of best management practices. Additional duties may include developing scopes and budgets, tracking schedules, reviewing project deliverables, mentoring junior staff, participating in client meetings, and helping manage multiple assignments from proposal through completion. Senior-level candidates may lead projects, supervise field teams, and serve as a primary technical contact for clients and regulatory agencies.

A bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, wildlife management, or a related discipline is required; a master’s degree is desirable for senior-level consideration. Candidates should have relevant professional experience in wildlife biology, environmental consulting, permitting, or regulatory compliance, along with knowledge of applicable environmental laws and agency processes. Experience with California species and habitats, including special-status species surveys, nesting bird surveys, wetland or habitat assessments, and construction monitoring, is highly valued. Strong technical writing, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential. The position may require local and regional travel, outdoor work in variable conditions, occasional early mornings or evening surveys, and the ability to safely navigate uneven terrain while carrying field equipment. A valid driver’s license and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are also required.
