Project Manager (Water)

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager (Water) to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater projects from inception through to completion. The role will involve managing project scope, programme, budget, quality, health and safety, procurement, and stakeholder expectations across multiple workstreams. You will coordinate internal teams, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and public or private-sector clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities will include developing project execution plans, schedules, risk registers, budgets, and reporting frameworks; monitoring progress and implementing corrective actions where required; managing design development, construction activities, commissioning, and handover; and ensuring all changes are properly assessed, documented, and controlled. You will lead project meetings, prepare clear progress reports, support commercial and contract administration, and maintain effective communication with stakeholders at all levels. The role may cover a range of water infrastructure schemes, including treatment works, networks, pumping stations, reservoirs, and associated civil engineering projects.

Applicants should have proven experience managing water, wastewater, utilities, or major civil engineering projects, ideally from feasibility or design through construction and completion. A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience is required, together with strong knowledge of project management principles, construction processes, health and safety standards, environmental compliance, and contract management. Experience with NEC or other standard forms of contract would be advantageous. You will be organised, commercially aware, and confident managing competing priorities in a complex delivery environment. Strong leadership, negotiation, problem-solving, written communication, and stakeholder management skills are essential. A formal project management qualification or professional membership is desirable, as is experience using common planning, reporting, and document-control systems.
