We are seeking a Community Water Manager to lead the planning, delivery and ongoing improvement of safe, reliable and sustainable water services for local communities. This role will work closely with residents, community representatives, technical teams, contractors and public stakeholders to ensure that water infrastructure is well managed, accessible and responsive to local needs. The successful candidate will combine strong operational knowledge with a practical, community-focused approach.
Key responsibilities include coordinating the operation and maintenance of water systems, monitoring supply reliability and water quality, and identifying risks that may affect service continuity. You will develop maintenance schedules, oversee contractors and field activities, maintain accurate records, and contribute to budgets, procurement and project planning. The role will also involve supporting the development of community water committees, delivering awareness and hygiene programmes, encouraging responsible water use, and ensuring that feedback or complaints are addressed promptly and professionally. You will prepare regular reports, track performance indicators and recommend improvements based on operational data and community priorities.
Applicants should have experience in water supply, utilities, infrastructure management, community development or a related field, together with a relevant technical or professional qualification. Practical knowledge of water systems, preventative maintenance, water-quality principles, health and safety requirements, and environmental sustainability is highly desirable. Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently in the field and collaborate effectively with diverse groups. Candidates should be organised, dependable and comfortable managing competing priorities, including emergency response situations. A commitment to inclusive service delivery, safeguarding, ethical conduct and long-term community resilience is expected. A valid driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to project and community locations may be required.
