We are seeking an experienced BESS Electrical Estimator to support the development of accurate, competitive estimates for battery energy storage system projects. Working across the tendering and pre-construction stages, you will interpret electrical drawings, specifications, scope documents and project schedules to identify the materials, labour, equipment and specialist services required for each opportunity. You will prepare detailed cost plans, bills of quantities, pricing schedules and commercial submissions for utility-scale, commercial and industrial BESS installations.
Your responsibilities will include reviewing tender documentation, identifying design gaps and technical risks, obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations, and maintaining clear records of assumptions, exclusions and inclusions. You will collaborate closely with electrical engineering, procurement, project delivery and commercial teams to validate designs and develop value-engineering options. The role will also involve assessing MV and LV equipment, transformers, switchgear, inverters, protection systems, cabling, control systems, civil interfaces and balance-of-plant requirements. You will contribute to tender clarifications, support negotiations and help ensure estimates reflect current market conditions, regulatory requirements and project-specific installation constraints.
The successful candidate will have proven experience estimating electrical works, ideally within battery energy storage, renewable energy, power generation, utilities or a related infrastructure environment. A strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, single-line diagrams, construction methodologies and applicable industry standards is essential. Experience using estimating, take-off, spreadsheet or enterprise resource planning software will be highly valued, together with the ability to analyse technical information and produce accurate results under time pressure. You should be commercially aware, detail-oriented and confident communicating with suppliers, clients and internal stakeholders. A relevant electrical engineering, quantity surveying or construction-related qualification is desirable, while practical project experience and a commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement are essential.
