Water/Wastewater Municipal Engineer

We are seeking a Water/Wastewater Municipal Engineer to support the planning, design, delivery and management of essential water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role will contribute to a varied programme of municipal works, including water treatment and distribution systems, wastewater collection and treatment facilities, pumping stations, storage infrastructure, drainage networks and related civil engineering projects. You will work closely with clients, contractors, regulators, utility providers and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include preparing feasibility studies, condition assessments, technical reports, design calculations, specifications, cost estimates and tender documentation. You will develop and review engineering designs, oversee modelling and hydraulic assessments, coordinate surveys and investigations, and support the preparation of planning, environmental and regulatory submissions. The successful candidate will manage project programmes, budgets, risks and quality requirements, while providing technical guidance during procurement, construction and commissioning. You may also be required to inspect works, review contractor submissions, resolve technical issues and ensure projects comply with relevant legislation, standards, health and safety requirements and environmental objectives.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental or water engineering, with relevant professional experience in municipal water and/or wastewater infrastructure. Experience with project delivery, design standards, contract administration and stakeholder engagement is highly desirable. Familiarity with hydraulic modelling, asset management principles, flood risk, sustainable drainage, treatment processes or infrastructure rehabilitation would be advantageous. Strong analytical, communication and report-writing skills are essential, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Professional registration or active progress towards professional accreditation will be viewed favourably.
