Field Service Engineer - T&D (Contract)

Job Overview:
We are working with an international OEM to recruit a Field Service Engineer for a contract opportunity within the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) sector of the wind industry. The successful candidate will support onshore and offshore wind farm projects across the UK and Europe, providing hands-on technical expertise for the installation, maintenance, and servicing of T&D systems, ensuring reliable integration and operation of wind farm infrastructure within the electrical grid.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site technical support for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of T&D systems in onshore and offshore wind farm projects.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical equipment such as transformers, substations, high-voltage cables, and grid connections.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and diagnostics of T&D systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and optimal performance.
- Identify and resolve system faults or performance issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring that all electrical systems are operating efficiently.
- Collaborate with project teams, OEMs, and contractors to ensure T&D systems are installed and maintained correctly according to specifications and safety standards.
- Provide technical reports and feedback to engineering teams, identifying potential improvements to enhance the performance of T&D systems.
- Work independently on service calls and escalate technical issues to senior engineers as needed.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company procedures.
- Provide training and technical guidance to operations and maintenance teams on the proper care and operation of T&D systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer with T&D systems, preferably within the wind industry.
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and T&D infrastructure, including transformers, substations, and grid connections.
- Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems.
- Familiarity with both onshore and offshore wind farm environments.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
- Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe.
- Offshore certification (e.g., BOSIET, CA-EBS) for offshore roles.
- Valid right to work in the UK and/or Europe.
