Overview:
We are seeking an experienced GIS Supervisor to join a major Transmission & Distribution project, supporting high-voltage (HV) GIS installation and commissioning activities on-site. This is an 8-month minimum contract role with potential for extension, based in either the UK, Norway, Qatar, or Oman. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) systems-preferably at 400kV level-and hands-on experience supervising mechanical and commissioning activities on complex T&D projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and supervise on-site GIS erection and commissioning activities.Guide and support the commissioning team by advising on best practices for site organisation, mechanical assembly, and equipment installation.Instruct local manpower on how to properly unpack, handle, and assemble all GIS equipment.Check civil readiness for GIS installation, ensuring alignment with technical requirements.Collaborate with the commissioning team to prepare for and perform Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).Act as the main point of contact for GIS-related activities on-site, ensuring all erection tasks are performed to the highest safety and quality standards.Coordinate with site teams and commissioning engineers to ensure smooth project execution.

Requirements:

Extensive experience supervising GIS erection and commissioning on high-voltage substations (preferably 400kV).Strong mechanical background with proven experience assembling GIS equipment.Familiar with civil, electrical, and mechanical interfaces involved in GIS installations.Ability to lead local manpower teams and liaise effectively with commissioning engineers.Strong understanding of HSE protocols and quality procedures on T&D projects.Willingness to work internationally and adapt to project-specific requirements and cultural environments.

We are currently hiring an experienced High Voltage (HV) Test Engineer to support field testing and commissioning activities on Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) systems for a global leader in grid solutions within the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) market. This role is ideal for professionals familiar with high-voltage testing practices and partial discharge diagnostics, particularly those with experience on GE Grid Solutions equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform high-voltage testing on GIS equipment during on-site commissioning, using HN generators connected via busbars or bushings.

Conduct Partial Discharge (PD) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) measurements to identify insulation defects or system abnormalities.

Analyze test results, detect potential faults, and support the engineering team in implementing corrective actions.

Prepare detailed test documentation and reports for internal and client use.

Ensure testing is conducted in compliance with relevant electrical safety standards and operational procedures.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across various European grid project sites.

Required Skills and Experience:

Strong hands-on experience in high-voltage testing and commissioning within the T&D sector.
