We are seeking a Commercial Assistant Superintendent to support the safe, efficient and commercially effective operation of a fleet of vessels. Working closely with the Commercial, Technical, Crewing and Operations teams, you will help coordinate vessel activities, monitor performance and ensure that operational priorities are delivered in line with company procedures, charter-party requirements and applicable maritime regulations.
Key responsibilities will include assisting with voyage planning and execution, monitoring vessel schedules, cargo operations, fuel consumption and operational costs, and maintaining accurate records and reports. You will communicate regularly with masters, agents, charterers, terminals and other stakeholders to resolve operational issues and minimise delays. The role will also involve supporting claims and incident management, reviewing performance data, preparing commercial reports, tracking budgets and invoices, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. You may assist with inspections, audits, vetting requirements and the implementation of corrective actions.
The successful candidate will have relevant experience in commercial shipping, vessel operations, maritime logistics or a related field. A maritime qualification, degree in shipping, logistics, business or a comparable discipline would be advantageous. You should have a sound understanding of charter-party principles, cargo operations, vessel scheduling and relevant industry regulations, together with strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication is essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective relationships across multiple locations and time zones. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with shipping or fleet-management systems are desirable. The ability to work independently, demonstrate sound judgement and occasionally travel or work outside standard hours when operationally required will be important.

Working closely with the Superintendent and project team, you will help coordinate daily site operations, maintain a safe and productive work environment, and ensure construction activities are completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
Responsibilities include assisting with the planning and coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, site personnel, inspections, deliveries, and equipment. You will monitor daily progress, identify potential delays or conflicts, and communicate issues promptly to the project leadership team. The role will involve reviewing drawings and specifications, supporting short-term scheduling, documenting site activities, maintaining accurate records, and helping administer RFIs, submittals, punch lists, change orders, and closeout requirements. You will also participate in site meetings, verify workmanship and materials, support quality-control processes, and help enforce project safety policies and applicable regulations.
The successful candidate will have commercial construction experience, preferably in an assistant superintendent, field engineer, foreperson, or similar role. A working knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, plans, specifications, scheduling, and jobsite safety is required. Strong communication, organisation, problem-solving, and documentation skills are essential, along with the ability to build effective relationships with subcontractors, consultants, clients, and field teams. Proficiency with construction management software and standard computer applications is desirable. Candidates should be able to read construction documents, manage competing priorities, work independently when required, and remain effective in a fast-paced site environment.
