Executive Summary

The Head of Field Service, Site Management will steer the operational performance and strategic growth of site activities across a diverse portfolio of hydropower projects throughout the United States and Canada. Serving as a crucial leadership link between regional site operations and global executive teams, this role is responsible for driving operational excellence, building high-performing site teams, enforcing stringent HSE and quality standards, and ensuring robust workforce planning across multi-million-dollar energy initiatives.

About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented leader to oversee site management across North America. In this position, you will establish consistent regional standards, champion a construction-focused mindset across the full project lifecycle, and ensure every project is executed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Implement department strategy, standards, processes, and tools consistently across the US and Canada.

  • Team Development: Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing Site Management team aligned with company and project goals.

  • Operational Execution: Oversee site operations to ensure safe, on-time, and within-budget delivery while adhering to contractual obligations, HSE standards, quality expectations, regulatory requirements, and company standards.

  • Resource & Capacity Planning: Manage workforce transparency, forecast staffing needs, maintain a qualified talent pool, and optimize resource allocation across all active projects.

  • Performance Monitoring: Track site performance through key indicators covering HSE, progress, productivity, quality, cost, risks, resources, and hours.

  • Bid & Proposal Support: Partner during early project phases to ensure site management requirements, execution strategies, resources, and risks are properly considered.

  • Continuous Improvement: Promote a strong construction focus across the value chain and project lifecycle, collaborating with global and regional stakeholders to continuously improve practices and competencies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Industry Expertise: Significant experience in construction and commissioning, preferably within hydropower, energy, heavy industry, or large-scale industrial projects.

  • Leadership Track Record: Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop teams, manage resources, and drive performance across multiple projects and locations.

  • Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of HSE, quality, project execution, subcontractor management, risk management, budgeting, planning, and change management.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, international environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proactive, structured, and results-oriented leadership style.

  • Languages: Fluency in English is required; French is considered an asset.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel regularly within the United States and Canada as required.
