Field Engineer - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking a Field Engineer – Water/Wastewater to support the delivery, inspection and commissioning of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working across construction sites, treatment facilities and network installations, you will provide technical guidance, monitor progress and help ensure that works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved designs, specifications and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer who enjoys working in the field and collaborating with contractors, consultants, project managers and operational teams.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing drawings, specifications and method statements; carrying out site inspections and quality checks; recording progress and identifying potential technical issues; supporting setting out and surveying activities; and assisting with the installation, testing and commissioning of pipelines, pumping stations, treatment equipment and associated civil or mechanical works. You will help investigate defects, coordinate corrective actions and maintain accurate site records, reports and documentation. The role will also involve monitoring health, safety and environmental compliance, attending progress meetings, supporting risk assessments and contributing to successful project handover.

Applicants should hold a degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, mechanical or water engineering, together with relevant experience in water, wastewater, utilities or infrastructure projects. Practical knowledge of construction methods, pipeline systems, water or wastewater treatment processes, inspection procedures and applicable standards is highly desirable. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and using standard engineering or reporting software. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in changing site conditions. A valid driving licence and willingness to travel between project locations may be required. Site-based experience, a commitment to safe working practices and professional engineering accreditation or progression towards accreditation would be advantageous.
