We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of bridge construction and civil engineering projects from mobilisation through to completion. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager, subcontractors and design teams to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards. This role will involve regular site-based activity and may require travel between project locations.
Key responsibilities will include setting out and surveying works using appropriate equipment; interpreting technical drawings, specifications and construction information; preparing inspection and test plans, quality records and progress reports; and monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, method statements and relevant standards. You will coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers, assist with the resolution of technical issues, track materials and resources, and contribute to project planning and progress meetings. The role will also involve maintaining accurate site documentation, supporting quantity and measurement checks, and ensuring that health, safety, environmental and sustainability requirements are consistently applied.
Applicants should have a degree, HND or equivalent qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline, together with experience in a site engineering role on bridge, highways or major infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of setting out, surveying, reinforced concrete, structural elements and temporary works is desirable. You should be confident using surveying instruments and relevant engineering or document-control software, with the ability to read and interpret drawings accurately. Effective communication, sound problem-solving skills and a methodical approach are essential. A valid driving licence, relevant site safety training and professional membership or progression towards professional accreditation would be advantageous. The successful candidate must be willing to work outdoors in changing conditions and demonstrate a proactive commitment to safe, high-quality project delivery.

The Site Engineer (Supervisor) - Bridges is responsible for supporting the Construction Director and Production Manager in the successful planning, coordination, supervision, and execution of bridge construction activities. The role ensures that works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards while maintaining compliance with contractual, technical, and HSE requirements.
