We are seeking a Water Resources/Hydraulics Engineer to support the planning, design, assessment and delivery of water infrastructure and flood risk management projects. This role will suit an experienced engineer who can combine strong technical capability with practical problem-solving and effective communication. You will contribute to projects involving hydraulic modelling, drainage systems, watercourses, flood studies, stormwater management, water supply and related civil infrastructure.
Key responsibilities will include developing and reviewing hydraulic and hydrologic models; undertaking flood risk, drainage and water resources assessments; preparing technical reports, calculations, drawings and specifications; and supporting the design of culverts, channels, pipelines, detention systems, pumping arrangements and other hydraulic assets. You will interpret survey, rainfall, catchment and asset data, identify design risks, and recommend technically sound and cost-effective solutions. The position will also involve coordinating with project teams, clients, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders, attending site inspections, supporting approvals, and assisting with construction or operational issues as required. You may also provide technical input to tenders, feasibility studies, asset investigations and project planning.
Applicants should hold a degree in civil engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant professional experience in water resources or hydraulics. Strong knowledge of hydraulic and hydrologic principles, flood modelling, drainage design and applicable standards is essential. Experience with industry software such as TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, XP-RAFTS, DRAINS, MUSIC or equivalent tools will be highly regarded. You will be expected to communicate clearly, manage competing priorities, work collaboratively and produce accurate technical outputs within agreed timeframes. Professional registration or progress toward registration, along with a commitment to health, safety, quality and environmental standards, is desirable.
