Rolling Stock Fleet Support Center Engineer
We are seeking a Rolling Stock Fleet Support Center Engineer to provide technical coordination and operational support for a modern rail vehicle fleet. The role will act as a central point of contact for maintenance teams, control rooms, suppliers, and engineering functions, helping to ensure that rolling stock remains safe, reliable, and available for service. You will monitor fleet performance, assess technical issues, and support the timely resolution of faults affecting vehicle operations.
Your responsibilities will include analysing in-service failures, reviewing maintenance and diagnostic data, and coordinating troubleshooting activities across relevant teams. You will provide clear technical guidance on corrective actions, track recurring defects, and contribute to root-cause investigations and reliability improvement programmes. The position will also involve supporting incident management, escalating safety-critical or operationally significant issues, and maintaining accurate records of fleet defects, interventions, and vehicle status. You may be required to support the development and review of maintenance instructions, technical reports, performance dashboards, and engineering notices.
Applicants should have an engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience in rolling stock, rail systems, automotive, aerospace, or another complex technical environment. Experience with fleet monitoring, fault diagnosis, maintenance engineering, or railway operations is highly desirable. You will need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to interpret technical documentation and performance trends, and confidence working with multiple stakeholders in a time-sensitive environment. Excellent communication skills, sound decision-making, and a structured approach to prioritising competing tasks are essential. Familiarity with safety management, maintenance management systems, diagnostic tools, and relevant rail standards would be advantageous. The successful candidate will be comfortable working shifts or providing out-of-hours support where required, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, service continuity, and continuous improvement.
