We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Biologist to provide scientific leadership across a range of biological research and development activities. The successful candidate will design, plan and deliver complex studies, interpret results and translate scientific findings into clear recommendations for project teams and stakeholders. You will contribute expert biological input throughout the project lifecycle, from early concept development and experimental design through to analysis, reporting and implementation.
Key responsibilities will include developing robust experimental protocols; overseeing laboratory, field or technical investigations; reviewing and interpreting complex datasets; and preparing high-quality reports, presentations and technical documentation. You will ensure that work is conducted in accordance with relevant legislation, ethical standards, quality systems and health and safety requirements. The role will also involve identifying risks, resolving technical challenges, maintaining accurate records and supporting the development of improved methods, processes and scientific approaches.
You will act as a trusted subject-matter expert, providing guidance and mentoring to biologists and wider multidisciplinary colleagues. You will collaborate effectively with internal and external partners, communicate complex scientific information to both specialist and non-specialist audiences, and contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement. Applicants should hold a degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, molecular biology or a related discipline, together with substantial relevant professional experience. A strong record of independent scientific delivery, data analysis and technical report writing is essential.
