Environmental Planner/Assistant PM

We are seeking an Environmental Planner/Assistant PM to support the delivery of environmental planning, permitting, and project coordination services across a varied portfolio of development and infrastructure projects. This role is suited to an organised and proactive professional who can combine strong environmental understanding with effective project administration and stakeholder communication. You will work alongside senior project managers, planners, engineers, consultants, clients, and regulatory authorities to help deliver projects efficiently, compliantly, and to a high professional standard.

Responsibilities will include coordinating environmental assessments and planning submissions; researching and interpreting environmental legislation, policy, and guidance; preparing technical reports, planning documents, fee proposals, presentations, and project correspondence; and assisting with the management of project programmes, budgets, risk registers, actions, and deliverables. You will help arrange and attend meetings, record decisions, monitor progress, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and support the commissioning and coordination of specialist surveys and consultants. The role may also involve site visits, data collection, reviewing technical information, responding to consultation comments, and supporting environmental permitting and compliance activities from project inception through to completion.

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in environmental planning, environmental science, geography, planning, or a related discipline, together with relevant experience in environmental consultancy, planning, infrastructure, development, or project coordination. An understanding of environmental impact assessment, planning processes, sustainability principles, and applicable legislation is desirable. You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, sound organisational abilities, and confidence managing competing deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to interpret technical information are essential; experience with project management systems, mapping software, or environmental assessment tools would be advantageous. A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and willingness to learn are highly valued.
