We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead, Rail and Transit to provide technical leadership across complex rail and public transport projects. This role will oversee the development, delivery and review of multidisciplinary engineering solutions, ensuring that designs are safe, compliant, practical and aligned with client and stakeholder requirements. You will contribute to projects across the full lifecycle, from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design, construction support, commissioning and operational handover.

Key responsibilities will include leading engineering teams and coordinating technical inputs across rail systems, civil infrastructure, stations, signalling, communications, rolling stock interfaces and associated transport assets. You will establish engineering strategies, manage design reviews, assess technical risks, resolve interfaces and provide authoritative advice to project managers, clients, contractors and regulatory bodies. The role will also involve reviewing specifications, drawings, calculations and technical reports; supporting bids and proposals; monitoring quality, cost and programme performance; and promoting consistent engineering standards, assurance processes and lessons learned across projects.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant engineering degree and professional registration or equivalent chartered status, together with substantial experience delivering rail, metro, light rail or wider transit infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of applicable technical standards, safety assurance requirements, systems engineering principles and project delivery practices is essential. You will be an accomplished communicator and people leader, able to build effective relationships, influence decisions and manage competing priorities in a collaborative environment. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, public-sector stakeholders and approval authorities will be highly valued. A proactive approach to problem-solving, commercial awareness and a commitment to quality, safety, inclusion and continuous improvement are also required.
