Environmental Engineer - Water Services Group

We are seeking an Environmental Engineer to join a Water Services Group delivering practical, sustainable solutions across water, wastewater and environmental infrastructure projects. This role will support the planning, design, assessment and delivery of projects that improve water quality, resource efficiency and environmental performance. You will work with engineers, scientists, planners, contractors and clients to develop solutions that meet regulatory, technical and community requirements.

Your responsibilities will include preparing environmental assessments, technical reports, permit applications and supporting documentation; evaluating the impacts of water and wastewater projects; contributing to environmental management plans; and identifying opportunities to reduce risks, waste, emissions and resource consumption. You will assist with water quality monitoring, data analysis, compliance audits and site inspections, as well as reviewing designs and construction activities to ensure environmental obligations are met. The role may also involve supporting hydrological, hydraulic or treatment-related studies, coordinating input from specialist consultants, and contributing to proposals, project planning and stakeholder engagement.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, water engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant professional experience in water, wastewater, environmental consultancy, infrastructure or regulatory compliance. Knowledge of environmental legislation, water quality standards, permitting processes and environmental risk management is essential. Experience with technical reporting, data analysis, project coordination and relevant software such as GIS, CAD or modelling tools would be advantageous. You will be a clear communicator with strong analytical and organisational skills, capable of managing priorities and working effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A commitment to health and safety, sustainability, professional integrity and continuous improvement is required. A relevant professional accreditation or progress towards one, along with a current driving licence and flexibility to attend project sites, may be advantageous.
