We are seeking an experienced Commercial/Contracts Director to support a major rail and metro programme at the bid stage. This is a high-impact opportunity for a commercially astute professional with strong experience in programme management consultancy (PMC), major infrastructure, and complex transport projects. The successful candidate will lead the commercial and contractual elements of the bid, helping shape a robust, competitive, and deliverable proposition for a large-scale rail or metro development.

Responsibilities will include developing the commercial strategy, reviewing procurement and contract requirements, identifying contractual risks, and advising on appropriate mitigation measures. You will lead the preparation of pricing assumptions, cost models, commercial submissions, qualifications, and contract departures, while ensuring alignment between technical, operational, financial, and legal inputs. The role will involve managing interactions with consortium partners, specialist advisers, suppliers, and key stakeholders, as well as supporting negotiations and clarifications throughout the tender process. You will also establish effective governance, reporting, change control, and risk management processes to support a successful transition from bid to delivery.

Applicants should have substantial commercial and contracts experience gained within rail, metro, highways, or similarly complex infrastructure environments, ideally with a background in PMC, client-side consultancy, or major contractor organisations. You will have a strong understanding of procurement models, contract forms, commercial assurance, claims, variations, and dispute avoidance. Experience leading multidisciplinary bid teams and contributing to high-value transport tenders is essential, together with excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills. A relevant degree or professional qualification in quantity surveying, commercial management, law, engineering, or a related discipline is desirable.
