Project Manager - PLCs and SCADA systems

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – PLCs and SCADA Systems to lead the delivery of automation and control projects from initial concept through to commissioning and handover. You will manage projects across the full lifecycle, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required technical and quality standards. The role will involve coordinating internal engineering teams, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives while maintaining clear communication and accurate project documentation.

Your responsibilities will include defining project scope, programmes, milestones and resource requirements; preparing and monitoring budgets; managing risks, issues, changes and dependencies; and providing regular progress reports to stakeholders. You will oversee the design, development, testing and implementation of PLC, HMI and SCADA solutions, ensuring that functional specifications, control philosophies, network architecture and cybersecurity requirements are properly addressed. You will also support factory acceptance testing, site installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and final project close-out, ensuring that all systems are fully documented and handed over effectively.

The successful candidate will have proven project management experience within industrial automation, manufacturing, utilities, energy or a related engineering environment, together with a strong understanding of PLC and SCADA systems. Experience with platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider or similar would be advantageous. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications, managing multiple workstreams and working with multidisciplinary teams. A relevant engineering or project management qualification is desirable, as is experience with formal project methodologies, risk management and commercial control. Strong organisational, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a practical, collaborative approach and a commitment to health, safety and continuous improvement.
