Systems Integration Lead, Rail Systems

We are seeking an experienced Systems Integration Lead to oversee the successful integration of complex rail systems across major infrastructure and rolling stock projects. You will provide technical leadership throughout the systems lifecycle, ensuring that interconnected subsystems, interfaces, requirements and operational considerations are aligned, verified and delivered in accordance with project objectives, safety obligations and relevant rail standards.

Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining the systems integration strategy, architecture, interface control documentation and integration plans. You will coordinate engineering teams, suppliers, contractors and operational stakeholders to identify dependencies, manage technical interfaces and resolve integration issues. The role will involve leading requirements traceability, design reviews, verification and validation activities, testing and commissioning readiness, while ensuring that risks, assumptions, changes and non-conformances are recorded and effectively controlled. You will also contribute to systems assurance, safety case development, configuration management and the preparation of technical reports and project documentation.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in systems integration within rail, transport, infrastructure or another highly regulated engineering environment. A strong understanding of rail systems, including signalling, communications, rolling stock, power, control systems or operational technology, is highly desirable, along with practical experience managing complex interfaces and multidisciplinary delivery teams. You will be confident interpreting technical standards and contractual requirements, facilitating workshops and design reviews, and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong planning, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills are essential. A relevant engineering, systems or technology qualification, together with professional registration or equivalent industry experience, would be advantageous.
