We are seeking a Senior Project Manager / Environmental Biologist to lead and deliver environmental consulting projects in the Fresno area. This role is suited to an experienced professional who can combine strong technical expertise in biological resources with effective project leadership, client communication, and business awareness. The successful candidate will support projects across the Central Valley, working with public- and private-sector clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities will include managing projects from proposal through completion; preparing scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and work plans; monitoring project performance and ensuring deliverables meet contractual, technical, and regulatory requirements; and coordinating field surveys, biological assessments, impact analyses, permitting, mitigation, and compliance monitoring. The role also involves supervising and mentoring staff, coordinating subcontractors, participating in agency and client meetings, identifying project risks, and maintaining accurate records. You will contribute to proposal development, fee estimates, and client relationship management while helping expand environmental services in the region.
A bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline is required; a master’s degree is desirable. Candidates should have substantial professional experience in environmental consulting, biological resources, and project management, including familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes. Experience with Central Valley ecosystems, special-status species, wetland and waters assessment, habitat assessments, and CEQA or NEPA documentation is highly valued. Strong technical writing, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently. Professional certifications or agency qualifications relevant to biological surveys are advantageous. The position requires regular fieldwork and occasional travel, including the ability to work outdoors in varied weather and terrain, maintain a valid driver’s license, and meet applicable safety requirements.
