Environmental Planner/Project Manager

We are seeking an Environmental Planner/Project Manager to lead and coordinate environmental planning, assessment and approval activities across a diverse portfolio of projects. This role will suit an experienced environmental professional who can combine strong technical knowledge with effective project management, stakeholder engagement and commercial awareness. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, consultants, regulators and community representatives to ensure projects are planned and delivered in accordance with legislative, environmental and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities will include managing environmental impact assessments, planning approvals, environmental management plans, compliance audits and supporting technical studies. You will prepare and review reports, scopes, proposals and project documentation; coordinate internal and external specialists; monitor budgets, schedules, risks and deliverables; and provide clear, practical advice on environmental constraints and opportunities. The role will also involve identifying approval pathways, interpreting relevant legislation and policy, supporting consultation processes, attending meetings and site inspections, and helping to develop solutions that balance environmental, social and regulatory considerations.

Applicants should have relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental planning, environmental science, planning, sustainability or a related discipline, together with demonstrated experience in environmental assessment, approvals or project management. Knowledge of applicable environmental legislation, planning frameworks and regulatory processes is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound analytical ability and excellent organisation are required, along with the confidence to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively with people from varied technical backgrounds. Experience managing consultants, budgets and project risk will be highly regarded. A practical, proactive approach, attention to detail and commitment to high-quality environmental outcomes are essential. The position may involve travel to project sites and occasional work outside standard business hours.
