We are seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to support complex oil, gas, and energy projects from early concept through planning, permitting, construction, and operational phases. This role will provide strategic environmental planning advice across a varied portfolio, helping to deliver technically robust, legally compliant, and commercially practical outcomes. You will work with multidisciplinary project teams, regulators, landowners, consultants, and community stakeholders to identify environmental risks and opportunities and ensure they are effectively managed.

Key responsibilities will include leading and reviewing environmental impact assessments, planning applications, permitting strategies, environmental management plans, and supporting technical studies. You will coordinate environmental inputs across project programmes, interpret relevant legislation and policy, and advise on topics such as biodiversity, ecology, water, air quality, contaminated land, climate change, and cultural heritage. The successful candidate will prepare clear technical reports, manage external consultants, contribute to stakeholder engagement and public consultation, and support the resolution of planning and environmental issues. You will also provide guidance to less experienced colleagues and help maintain high standards of quality, health, safety, and environmental performance.

Applicants should have substantial experience in environmental planning, assessment, or permitting within the oil, gas, energy, infrastructure, or similarly regulated sectors. A relevant degree or professional qualification is required, along with strong knowledge of environmental legislation, planning processes, and consenting regimes. Experience managing complex projects, budgets, programmes, and multidisciplinary teams will be highly valued. You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound commercial awareness, and the ability to explain technical matters to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. A proactive, analytical, and collaborative approach is essential, together with the confidence to influence decisions and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
