Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager - Water/Wastewater - Fayetteville, NC
We are seeking a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This role will contribute to the successful planning, coordination, and execution of projects from preconstruction through completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The position may suit an experienced Project Manager or a motivated construction professional ready to take the next step in their career.
Responsibilities will include reviewing plans, specifications, contracts, and schedules; coordinating with clients, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and field teams; monitoring project progress and financial performance; managing procurement, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and payment applications; and maintaining accurate project documentation. You will help develop and update schedules, identify risks and potential delays, resolve issues promptly, and support regular project meetings and progress reporting. The role will also involve promoting safe working practices, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and contract requirements, and assisting with closeout activities, commissioning, punch lists, and final documentation.
Applicants should have experience in construction project management, preferably involving municipal water, wastewater treatment, utility, pipeline, or related heavy civil projects. A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related discipline is preferred, although equivalent industry experience will be considered. Assistant Project Manager candidates should demonstrate strong organisational skills and a willingness to develop technical and commercial expertise. Project Manager candidates should be confident managing budgets, schedules, contracts, and project teams independently. Strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and computer skills are essential, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management or scheduling software. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively, travel to active project sites as required, and meet applicable background, driving, and site-access requirements.
